England vs Australia World Cup 2019: Lord’s weather report, Playing XI, Match head-to-head

England vs Australia, World Cup 2019: The two initial favourites to win the cricket world cup, England and Australia are all set to go up against each other in their title clash in ICC World Cup 2019. England, which began as a formidable team with top-class batsmen, suddenly looks to be staggering to hold on to their place in the semi-finals due to two major upsets-one against Sri Lanka and the other against Pakistan.

Australia, on the other hand, which began the world cup on a weaker note with two of their top batsmen just returning from a one-year suspension, has come around to regain its lost form. Besides one loss against India, the team has managed to come out dominant in all of its remaining matches with its leading batsman David Warner currently heading the list of world cup highest run scorers.

Lords Weather Report: It’s slightly overcast

The Lords Weather report for England vs Australia match: Though it was raining in London all night, the rain has stopped now. It is still cloudy in Lord’s and heavy rain has been predicted later.

England vs Australia Head-to-Head

The world cup clash will be crucial for both teams to secure their semi-final berth. Both England and Australia will be looking to win the match to better their chances. However, it is slightly more important for England to win the match, as it has already lost two of its matches and the hosts will need to win each of their remaining three games to still survive in the world cup tournament.

World Cup Qualification Scenarios

1. Qualification Scenario for England

England currently has 8 points from six matches. The bad news for England, however, is that after its match with Australia, it is set to face the world cup’s two unbeaten teams – India and New Zealand. The hosts will have to win all their three matches to secure their semi-final spot. However, if England loses all of its remaining matches, it will be stuck to 8 points and it will then have to bank upon Sri Lanka to lose all their remaining matches, Pakistan and Bangladesh to lose at least two of their remaining matches and West Indies to lose at least one of its remaining three matches. Hence it is even more important for the hosts to defeat Australia today.

2. Qualification Scenario for Australia

Australia currently has 10 points from six matches. The team has to win one more match to secure its semi-final place. After its match with England, it is yet to face New Zealand and South Africa. If Australia loses all three matches and remains at 10 points then it would have to hope that Sri Lanka loses at least two of its matches and Pakistan and Bangladesh lose at least one match each to make it to the semi-finals.
